Yes! The Chinese New Year Parade, marching the streets of Market to Kearny Street in San Francisco, on March 3, 2007.
February 18, 2007 honored the Chinese Lunar New Year 4705, celebrating the twelfth zodiac in the Chinese astrology, the Boar, known as the Pig in the western world.
Over 650,000 people in the Bay Area attended the parade to celebrate the culture, art, music and dances of this wonderful and prolific country, China.
The parade ranks among the most popular, colorful and extremely well choreographed parades in the world, achieving the recognition of a worldwide audience.
KTVU, Channel 2 and KTSF, Channel 26 in the Bay Area have been covering and broadcasting the Chinese Parade for the past 20 years respectively in English and Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese.)
A barrage of firecrackers announced a glowing performance of acrobats from the popular Cirque Du Soleil group, silken handcrafted Dragons, lion dancers, as well as different educational institutions of the Bay Area.
This year sees astrologers being divided, those who believe it will be a prolific year, and the others labeling it “The Year of The Golden Boar” a.k.a the second coming of a “baby-boom” generation, impregnated with good health and good deeds...
