Artists Statement
I explore the duality of my nature and the resultant emotional states that I attempt to control or at very least influence. The works are not expressions of those emotions, but in the act of creation an attempt to directly influence them. One can choose to think of this work as visual lithium. There is no conscious attempt to choose color to match mood, rather it is how the various elements look/feel/belong and come into being as I layer images as well as the effect they have on my sorted and wide-ranging humors. Directly representing the feeling is of little concern to me. I use the process of creating and manipulating to stabilize, enhance and or reverse the state, be it euphoria or ennui. These are not narratives of internal dialogues instead they are the result of the psyche trying to produce that which will help heal it. Not every attempt is immediately successful if at all.
Invariably emotion is reflected in the work. Experiencing the piece is best done by opening oneself to the work and become absorbed by it. Though created for self-therapeutical purposes the side effect produced is a symphony of color that will positively affect any state of mind. Digital therapy.
Bio
Besides some art in high school I am largely self taught. Eight years ago it dawned on me that it was high time I became what I wanted to be when I grew up. I have been actively playing full time since then.
