A Faith Proclamation of Prayer for America
Yesterday, I watched the Fort Hood Memorial service and this morning the ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknowns.
Many of us get caught up in our day-to-day lives and the wars and those fighting them on our behalf are removed and distant. Perhaps a lot more distant than they should be.
As I think of all those who came before and are serving now, I also think of all those who have no one to pray for them. The lone survivor, the unbeliever who is not supported by believers. The parents who have survived their children, the children who survived their parents and are alone.
This morning I’m thinking of all those survivors just in my small sphere who literally have no one to pray for them. And so today, this day of remembrance, is the perfect day to declare a faith proclamation for prayer.
We all need prayer. Our people, our leaders, our nation. So many are broken and so weary that even if they were inclined to pray, they wouldn’t know what to ask for. We’ve all been there at some time. And yet when we have our answers, we don’t always remember what it was like--those roiling emotions, the pain and helplessness, the hopelessness. We endured, we survived. We experienced grace.
Some of us were blessed to have others praying for us. Some of us did not. So today, I’m going to pray for all those who have no one to pray for them. That is my faith proclamation. My prayer proclamation. To pray for all those, that God will touch the hearts of our leaders and grant them wisdom and the strength to do the right thing for our country and its people, and for our nation, that its fractured splinters heal and we again follow God’s ways, His tenets. That we remember He was at the heart of the formation of our nation, and He has not abandoned us. I pray we don’t abandon Him.
And if so inclined, I hope that you will join me and adopt this prayer proclamation too. Because where two or more agree, we have the promise that it will be done.
Blessings,
Vicki
