Who is Mary Reade?
The Mary Reade Award is our companion contest for unpublished authors, or those not published within the past five years. Our published authors’ contest is the Anne Bonney Readers’ Choice Award, so it is fitting that the unpublished award be named the Mary Reade Writers’ Choice Award. Mary Reade was, in life, Anne Bonney’s companion.
Mary, a woman of strength and daring, had the courage to set outside the rules.
It is ACRA’s hope that aspiring authors also will take that courageous step and write something new and fresh that an agent will jump at the opportunity to represent.
