I finished this last weekend, but didn’t blog it as I wanted to give it to Max first. Last year I made her a pair of beaded fingerless mittens. This year she got a shawl to match. I think I’ll rename it the “incredible shrinking shawl” ! It’s made from pure silk and the thinnest kid mohair. The pattern calls for a dropped stitch. While I was knitting, the shawl grew as I’d expected. Then if I left it for a while, when I measured it it would not have grown at all. The fabric was relaxing back on itself. As soon as it was draped around something it would grow again. It was not an easy knit even though the pattern itself was simple.
I am very happy with the shawl. It is light but warm, elegant and snuggly.
The yarns I used were Maia Spun Silk ( Lavender) from The Natural dye Studio and Parisienne ( Bright Charcoal) from Colinette. Both beautiful yarns to work with.
