The Sweet Sounds of Harold Jean-Pierre
The Haitian born Saxophonist Harold Jean-Pierre began his musical career at the age of nine, playing Accordion, Saxophone, Clarinet and Flute. The Saxophone became Harold’s musical voice while residing in Brooklyn, New York where he spent his youth.
Harold was introduced to New Orleans Jazz by the trumpeter Steve Kindred, who expanded his appreciation of classical music, history and development of various jazz styles and the blues.
After completing high school, Harold enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and performed in the band from 1976 - 1980. He performed such varied pieces such as “the Marches of John Phillip Sousa”, Big Band Era music, concert pieces from different classical composers, Contemporary Rock, Funk and Rhythm & Blues.
