Music: Trio 109 for baryton, viola and basso by Joseph Haydn
Luthiers
working with Orpheon

A number of viol and violin makers work closely with the collection, studying, restoring and copying these instruments. The collection is placed at the disposal of the violin-making schools, who often visit the exhibitions to gain insights into the historical construction principles and get acquainted with the work of some specific makers. The Instrument-Making School of Hallstatt has just finished an installation demonstrating the building of a violin and a viola da gamba for the project awarded to Orpheon by the European Community in their programme: Culture 2000, Mozart Call, which has just taken in 2007 in Vienna and Salzburg. They have also executed excellent plans for some of the violas da gamba in the collection. From June of 2007 a permanent residence has been established for the collection in the Castle of Kremsegg, Upper Austria, where the instruments will be on display throughout the year. Concerts, seminars and workshops using the instruments of the collections are being planned.
