Music: William Lawes - Fantasia for six viols to the organ in F-major
Family Reunion II
The Turners

This is the story of three trebles and a bass viola da gamba from the 17th Century, choice instruments by William Turner, London, ca. 1650.
The first treble was acquired from a dealer in Basel, who was reconstructing it as a modern viola! One month later the second treble appeared on a Sotheby’s sale in London. Many years later, a bass viol by William Turner was put on sale in an auction in France. The third treble was acquired more recently at an auction in Britain. It is very seldom that one can enjoy the experience of performing on a set of matched viols of the 17th Century!
