Many iWeb users use iComment to add Statcounter code to their site, to gather statistics about their visitors. What iComment essentially does is to add the statcounter code right before the < /body > tag. HOWEVER, this can cause problems on Blog pages. Dot-Mac Blog Comments do not agree with Statcounter. (Or really with any sort of changes to the html)
So... if you want to track your visitors to your site but want to preserve .Mac commenting, here’s how to do it:
Place a small text box ANYWHERE on your page. Type something in the box like STATCOUNTERCODE. If you want to position your counter, go ahead and move the box where you want it. If your Statcounter is invisible, it doesn’t matter where this box goes.
After publishing, search for STATCOUNTERCODE and replace it with, you guessed it, your Statcounter code! It’s that simple! You can do this on as many pages as you want to put the code on. And avoid the blog or other pages you don’t care to count visitors for!
Remember, if you make a change to a page like this post-publishing, and later re-publish, you have to make the html changes again! Set up a Find/Replace command in MassReplaceIt and you can do this very quickly (especially if you want to do multiple pages!)
Please, leave a comment in my GuestBook if you are confused and need clarification, or just to let me know this has been helpful!
Or, maybe you are feeling really grateful and generous... care to buy me something off my Amazon Wishlist? Just about everything on there is intended for my classroom, so you would be making a great donation!
