Happy 10th Birthday to the first Vapresto litter

It was 10 years ago today that our first pups were born - on a Thursday morning when I was home alone! A panic call to my Mum & Dad brought towels and another two pairs of similarly inexperienced hands and about 4 hours later we had the A-litter of 9 healthy puppies!
The first litter has been fantastic so far and as far as I know, all are still healthy and happy - we lost contact with one early on when her owners moved house (if Rosie’s owners are reading this we’d love to hear from you).
Here are a few highlights of the first litter’s achievements:

5 have competed regularly in agility (Frost, Blitz, Millie, Jay and Nikki) and Blitz was placed in grade 4 at his most recent 3 shows this year (Cornwall, Carn Brae and Suffolk Five Rivers)
Blitz has been to 3 BSD World Championships (Belgium, Spain and Germany) - taking 30th place overall at the first in 2003 (the youngest dog in the final and only a few months out of Starters in the UK!)
Blitz and Frost have competed in Belgium (3 times) and Denmark
Frost and Jay have both been in major finals (Frost at DIN, Jay won her Supadogs final)
3 have been in major films (Blitz, Frost and Millie in the Hogfather and Millie and Frost in Inkheart)
Sky has been to Crufts (she came 4th in her class) and has since had 18 puppies from two litters
Most important of all - all have been much loved, fun and friendly pets

We are immensely proud of them all - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Dash Meets the Milton Keynes Mayoress

We took part in the Pets As Therapy display at the Rotary Club promotional event in Milton Keynes a couple of weeks ago and Dash met the Mayoress - along with a few hundred children and other shoppers!
I was very pleased with her as she was there for almost 3 hours and seemed to enjoy every minute of it - despite the commotion of hundreds of shoppers in the main hall of Central Milton Keynes Shopping Centre, not to mention a continuous live performance from local ‘Britains Got Talent’ hopefuls about 3 metres away!

I haven’t been a very good blogger lately, have I? I really must make an effort to keep this site up to date, but I have to confess it is easier and quicker to just post on our forum - here...

Monica is the first winner of the Vapresto Shield

The Kennel Club have very kindly allowed Vapresto to present a perpetual trophy at the KC International Agility Festival each year, to the best performing BSD in the Novice Cup competition.
The Vapresto Shield was first awarded this year and the deserved winners were Simone Stephenson with her Tervueren bitch - Domburg Dangerous Affair (Monica). Not only did they win the trophy by being the highest ranked BSD in the two qualifying rounds, but then went on to gain a lovely clear round in the final, earning them 11th place overall (and highest place BSD) - coincidentally at their 11th ever agility show! Simone and Monica actually won the Starters Cup last year, so we expect to see them in the British Open next year... :-)

Vapresto have supported BSDs in agility for 5 years now, with an annual league and establishing the BSD WC team from GB (with which we won both team and individual Gold in 2005).

Vapresto Tervueren have been to Tervuren!

OK, so it was nearly a month ago, but I’ve been very busy: Commentating at the KC International Agility Festival, judging at West Lakes, etc. (oh, and of course my proper job!)
We stopped off in Tervuren on the way back from a very enjoyable agility weekend in Genk, at the Lihos show and I have posted a lot of pictures in the following gallery...

Managed to get back from working in Latvia in time to get to Newton Heath this weekend and photographed the Olympia ABC Semi-finals. I have at least one photo of every dog in the event (including the ‘white dog’ at the start and they can be found by clicking the following link...
