Who are "Sandwich Scouts"?

Sandwich Scouts are of a certain age and generation that have raised (and may still be raising) children, and are now faced with the responsibility of providing care for aging parents or grandparents. These folks have been labeled “The Sandwich Generation”.

This site provides an opportunity for “sandwichers” to share experiences and information, hopefully with a sense of humor about the crazy things they go through in the day to day deadly serious business of caring for the ancient ones.

It is easy to become isolated and overwhelmed with the sheer number of tasks. Unrealistic expectations occur when we don’t have the right information. We easily become angry for having to take care of a dependent elder, or guilty over not being able or willing to do enough. Here is a forum for the community of caregivers  to share stories, and reward themselves for jobs done well against formidable odds .

Hence, we recall a time in our youth when some of us participated in one scouting group or another. We worked hard to complete achievements and earn merit badges. Now as "Sandwich Scouts" we can once more earn appropriate badges of achievement as we provide necessary services for our elders.

Sandwich Scouts; We earned those badges. We want those stinkin’ badges
