2007 Nevada Day Parade—“Mysteries of Nevada – AREA 51”

The Great State of Nevada holds many mysteries.  It has been the place of numerous alleged UFO encounters, alien autopsies, and Elvis sightings.   The list of sightings is as long as it is diverse.   The 2007 theme “Mysteries of Nevada – AREA 51” was intended to bring attention to AREA 51—a mysterious place in Nevada near the town of Rachel, which is located on the Extraterrestrial Highway.

Imaginations go wild thinking of all the secrets that AREA 51 holds.  The public desire to know about this place only continues to feed our curiosity and fascination.  AREA 51 is one of the best kept secrets that everyone knows about, and the government’s denial of its existence only continues to feed the mystique of the place.

AREA 51 is a 6 mile by 10 mile strip of land in southern Nevada, known by a variety of names:  Air Force Flight Test Center, Detachment 3, Dreamland, Watertown Strip, Paradise Ranch, The Box, and Groom Lake.  The 60 square miles of land is owned by the United States Air Force, and contains an airfield whose primary purpose is believed to be the secret development and testing of new military aircraft.  It is famed as the subject of many UFO conspiracy theories.

There are so many unique and interesting places in the State of Nevada; some old, some new, some are places one just passes through.  Others are places one hears about, but never ventures into the desert to see for themselves; therefore, they remain a mystery.
