When Eragon comes across a polished blue stone in the forests of the Spine, he has no idea what he has found, or what he has started...

Eragon, a 15-year-old boy, lives in the small town of Carvahall, which is at the base of Igualda falls. The people of Carvahall are mostly farmers, so Eragon considers the polished blue stone he finds in the forests of the Spine, a vast mountain range, something he can sell at a high price to traders. When the stone hatches into a small dragon, he realizes that he must keep her a secret, and that they can communicate through thought. He also has a silver oval on his palm, the Gedwëy Ignasia, the mark of a dragon rider. Eragon then goes to the local Storyteller Brom to learn more about dragons. He then asks Brom what he would have named a dragon, attempting to think of a name for his own. Telling the names to his dragon, she rejects them all, Eragon has only recited names for male dragons. You’re a girl aren’t you? He asks her. He then tells her the only female dragon name Brom had told him, Saphira.

The game is all-real, yet at the same time it’s “only a game.” Until she gets back into this world, the only way to get out is to play, play and then win.
