On behalf of the entire Upper Township Middle School community, I would like to welcome you to our school.   Through the concerted efforts of the administration, faculty, and staff, our students are “Learning to Succeed.”

With a realization that we live in a world that continues toward a true global society, we have directed our resources to prepare our students for the advanced technological world that awaits them.  We have dramatically increased our students’ access to instructional technology.  Every instructional space in the Middle School is outfitted with an interactive SMART Board.  Also, state of the art presentation systems have been installed in the Middle School Gym and Cafeteria.  All of our teachers have received laptops to assist them with infusing technology in their lessons.

We are fortunate to have some of the finest students and staff members in all of New Jersey. Our school community works together to improve instruction and to support learning. As educational professionals, we continue to monitor and evaluate the academic programs and extracurricular activities. We strive to implement meaningful changes for the benefit of our school and community. At Upper Township Middle School, we value the support that we receive from the community at large and recognize the invaluable contribution that they make.

Realizing that communication is a vital component of a truly effective education program, we take advantage of a variety of communication tools. Throughout the year, information is made available to the school community by way of our District’s website, individual teacher websites, and Local Channel 2 (UTTV) as well as various publications. In addition, we utilize the district-wide student information system (PowerSchool). This online database allows us to communicate with parents on an ongoing basis while providing us with a powerful student information tool.  PowerSchool offers both teachers and parents opportunities to access data and gain a historical perspective of academic and social growth.

The Middle School community is excited to continue our school-wide student behavior program called SOAR. SOAR stands for Safety, Ownership, Acceptance, and Respect. The SOAR Program focuses on defining, teaching, reinforcing and rewarding positive behaviors. The students and staff have worked hard to develop behavioral expectations for various school settings including the classroom, the hallway, the cafeteria, and the bus. The students are rewarded for exhibiting these identified behaviors.

Our middle school students continue to participate in a variety of different after-school activities including sports and clubs. We strive to create an environment where every child has the opportunity to become actively involved.  In addition, special area teachers facilitate their Focus programs, which foster individual creativity and expression as well as promote student work and achievement.

In closing, we at the Upper Township Middle School are extremely proud of our graduates.  We are confident that we have done our best to prepare our students for the challenges ahead. With a focus on student learning and a collaborative approach to the educational process, we look forward to the continued development and contributions of our students.  At Upper Township Middle School, our students continue to SOAR to new heights.
