Day 2: December 13th, 2007
12:00 p.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Kishore Biyani and Bruce Nussbaum represent two key influences in the field of design. Both command immense influence and respect of the industry and the media. They have both been instrumental in bringing design into focus in mainstream media and the corporate world.
Kishore Biyani, CEO of the Future Group, makes headlines in the business and popular press of India, every time he reveals his plans for a new project. Known as the King of retail in India, Kishore Biyani was instrumental in promoting India’s largest design firm, idiom, and demonstrating how design can be a key resource for business success.
Bruce Nussbaum, Assistant Managing Editor of Business Week, is known worldwide for communicating the value of design as key resource to the patrons of design, especially to the corporate world, through his columns and blogs in Business Week. For decades designers have struggled to articulate the value of design to its patrons; Bruce has managed to help designers understand how their clients think and to challenge and redefine their own understanding of where design fits.
A relentless globe trotter, Bruce is invited to explain design and innovation to high level audiences worldwide.
Uday Dandavate, Founder and CEO of SonicRim, a global design research company based out of the United States is also one of the founders of the Design with India initiative, which is inspired by the online forum, DesignIndia. Uday will facilitate a dialogue between Kishore Biyani and Bruce Nussbaum.
When Kishore Biyani’s astute knowledge of the Indian consumer meets Bruce Nussbaum’s understanding of where design fits in the global marketplace the outcome is bound to have a big impact.
