User Experience Design at Intel

Emerging markets platform group (EMPG) in Intel is focused on defining & delivering new unique platforms to address accessibility, affordability, ease of use and end user value based on the unique needs of the next 1B users. One of the early opportunities that were identified through Intel’s 3-circle model of innovation was 1-on-1 computing in education for K-12 education in emerging markets. This effort is driven by multi-disciplinary, multi-geo and allows us to incorporate specific needs of K-12 students across the emerging markets. The first generation of a platform solution was launched late last year and as any other first generation products in a completely new category may not deliver on the right user experience. Through pilots in 25 countries, the team has collected valuable user experience data, short-comings from both industrial design and user interface design. We are hoping that with designers from different culture work together with this data will allow EMPG to develop the next generation that delivers on all the user experience value propositions. With the example of CMPC design, Dr. Prabhu will highlight Intel’s experience of developing technology products with consideration to experience of use.
