POSITION ANNOUNCEMENTS
 
Position Title: Specialized Neuroscience Research Program (SNRP) Associate Scientific Director
 
Position Description: The UCC School of Medicine seeks applicants with strong promise of research productivity, successful extramural funding and effective mentoring of junior faculty members.  Candidates are expected to contribute to the institutional strength of neuroscience research and submit applications for extramural funds in neuroscience research.
 
Responsibilities included but are not limited to: 1) Assisting the Director in the development, preparation, and submission of the program's grant proposals. 2) Coordinates and promotes the development of potential new research projects. 3) Supervises and trains SNRP researchers in grantmanship, scientific presentations and research program development. 4) Manages the review of SNRP researchers’ proposals before submission to funding agencies.
 
Qualifications: 1) Ph.D. or M.D. or equivalent degree with a minimum of 5 years of independent research experience in Neuroscience.  2) R-, P- or U-type support from NIH. 3) Record of scholarly productivity through publication in peer-reviewed journals.  4) Established program of research with continuity of funding and continuous productivity. 5) Effectiveness as a mentor of graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and junior faculty.  6) Ability to direct courses at the graduate level.

Position Title: Biostatistician
 
Position Description: Candidates will be responsible for providing services to faculty and students in experimental design; statistical plans; writing the statistics sections of grants; power analysis; and performing statistical analysis.
 
Candidates are expected to contribute to research projects in collaboration with other faculty.  
 
Candidates will also participate in medical and graduate student educational programs and will be responsible for teaching the Biostatistics course. The chosen person will be assigned  academic rank.  The position is subject to external funds.
 
Qualifications:  The candidates must possess a degree in Biostatistics.  Teaching experience is desirable.   Ph.D. is desirable.
