From 8mm to Digital Media
The first movie camera I pressed the shutter release on was a Kodak Brownie 8mm camera. My parents had purchased it with Raleigh coupons (cough). No lithium batteries here... just unfold the key on the side and give it a few cranks and shoot. After loading the film one could shoot for approximately 2 minutes and then flip the film over for another 2 minutes of soundless image recording.
Later on in college when I took a film making class we where assigned super 8 cameras. I did the whole splicing and stop action stuff.
Now, even the most rudimentary digital cameras or for that matter even cellular phones are capable of recording a simple short movie that can document/communicate an event or idea. Combining that with available software, both visual and audio and it would not be far off to say we are in a “golden age” of communication arts.
Having taken a mere fraction of the time that it takes to shoot and edit film... I humbly submit these simple short movies... complete with audio.
