Hummingbirds

The Dream
I had a very special dream this morning, ( January 6, 2005 ). I hope you don't mind me sharing it.
It goes like this...
"We had just finished a wonderful meal hosted by Jill's brother Martin, at his house. There where family and old friends sitting around the table enjoying the afterglow. As the meal concluded I stepped out to the back yard to take a walk. I was making my way around and looked down noticing a small bird rustling about in the plants by my feet. It looked to be a baby hummingbird with little red feathers covering it's head. It's feathers where wet and matted, perhaps he was just born. I reached down, picking it up to comfort & check it out. I positioned myself on my knees, eventually laying on my stomach. With my attention on the small bird I had not noticed that another hummingbird, more mature, had landed on the back of my bare outstretched calf. (This is the leg that requires my daily attention since the surgery). The bird perched on my left calf had quite a long curved beak compared to the ones that I care for around the house. As I noticed it sitting there I was a bit startled and amazed to see it putting it beak into the meaty part of my calf as if it was at a feeder full of sweet nectar. I could feel it, not unlike an accupunture needle. After several dips into my flesh we both became aware of the other and it flew away."
I am grateful for this bit of sleepy time imagery, I look upon it as blessing and healing act. The bird piercing my calf was drawing nourishment while helping me to remove lymph fluid. Not a bad exchange.
I like that dream.
