Cute invitations & a deal from me!
So I’m actually a little embarrassed...apparently its an unofficial joy thigpen day at OnceWed today. And while I’m very honored, the spotlight makes me a little squirmy so I’m going to send some more over to Josh Lafayette. He and Lou’s wedding is featured today. Flower workshop
Seriously, one of the greatest things in the last few months has been getting to know Emily from the lovely blog, OnceWed. I have really enjoyed getting to know her personally and professionally. Ollie
Well, I’m writing at midnight again.
My great grandmother died in her sleep last night. She was a cool lady. She lived to hold her great great granddaughter. Not many people get to do that…but I guess that’s what happens when you have generations of women having babies when they’re young.
Her name was Ollie Singleton. She ran off and married Fred when she was sixteen, I think. They were farmers and he worked for Ford. Simple, salt of the earth kind of people. She raised seven kids.

My new logo and new styling site!
Whew! My new site is up! Have you ever launched a web site? There’s something about going live that gives my insides a funny feeling. I think it’s excitement and nerves, relief and hope all rolled into one mixed bag. On the one hand it’s a finish line...building a site is a fairly complex task; but in the broader scheme, it’s the beginning of who knows what! The birth of a magazine
Hey hey! Look who’s on the cover of the premiere issue of the awesome new magazine, Southern Weddings! Its Chelsea and Tec with a 4 page spread to boot! Pretty fun. Be sure to look for it on news stands. There’s so much buzz about it right now I’m dying to get my hands on a copy. I think its just the magazine brides are looking for these days. Its new, fresh, and has quality content.

Inspiration and beckoning
I know it may seem that I’ve dropped off the planet but actually I’ve just been working my tale off. Work and family have been the only subjects to receive any attention. And while I deeply love both my family and my work, I recognize the need to take more space for for the re-creation of self--which is at times an elusive luxury.
However, as I have survived the holidays....barely.....and I have come to a temporary impasse in my work today, I am taking a surprise and welcomed day off.

Now there’s a good question! The reason you don’t know what a wedding stylist does is because, as far as I know, I’ve just made up the title!
Over the course of getting married, helping friends get married, and photographing weddings, I have come to realize that there is this little niche out there that needs to be filled. The Not Wedding!
Whew! What a whirlwind life has been recently. All good things that have left my head spinning. Some I’ll have to wait to announce, but here’s a big one that’s ready to go! The Not Wedding! As featured yesterday on The Bride’s Cafe, OnceWed, and Snippet & Ink. Recently, Callie Murray told me she was planning a one of a kind wedding event and asked me to be the stylist/design it...fun!

Here’s an update to my previous post... Yesterday, over at The Bride’s Cafe, Janie featured Kathleen’s shoot. Thanks Janie!

Beautiful Kathleen

Another noble savage
So maybe this is a little random but... Yesterday I taught an art lesson to 6 boys on curvy lines. Their mothers asked me to make it fun and memorable so we drew them on their faces! (And put feathers in their hair, of course.) But I really enjoyed learning a little about the Maori people of New Zealand (I love Wikipedia) who inspired our little art project. Talk about rustic elegance.

Slipping into fall
Well, this is a bit of a “photograph to room” post...especially if you include my title from the previous post. I just thought this image was such a nice transition from the tomatoes!
It feels so organic and edgy and autumnal....thank you Dwell Studios. This is a nice welcome to harvest time. Especially if I could take a little nap right there and read one of the books on the night stand!

The end of summer
Well, I guess its that time...officially, anyway. I’m not quite ready to say goodbye but the idea of snugly sweaters and crisp air does sound nice.
