Elissa Rose McClure was a member of the PBL High School Class of 2005. Born and raised in Paxton, she had been a student in the PBL School District all her life. In addition to her academic achievements, Elissa was an outstanding, inspiring athlete and loyal friend.
Elissa was tragically killed just before her much-anticipated 16th birthday and prior to her junior year at PBL. If you or anyone you know has any information about the foul play surrounding the “accident” that killed Elissa, please contact us. By phone (312.350.0689), by email (use the Email Me link below) or anonymously by mail (The McClures, 604 W. Center St., Paxton, IL 60957). Without your help, we will never know about Elissa’s final moments. Silence and inaction will not help prevent other senseless deaths.
Elissa possessed strength of spirit and character that she combined with an intense devotion and exuberant personality to help her achieve many personal and team successes. With her beaming smile, high energy and contagious positive attitude, there was never a dull moment in the journey.
The numerous contributions Elissa made and the lessons she taught us do not end with the sounding of the buzzer or by her crossing the finish line ahead of us. The journey toward success continues on in Elissa’s memory through the contributions of other female athletes. This is the primary goal of the Elissa Rose McClure Memorial Scholarship.
