Just for a visit, that is. I fly tomorrow from Paris to the booming metropolis of Cincinnati (I have always likened Cinci to Paris) where I will change planes and head to Roanoke. Why there isn’t non-stop service between Paris and Roanoke is beyond me.

Saturday night is yet another world premiere: my latest opus The Peregrination Suite, will be played Saturday night in Virginia by pianist Alexandre Dossin. Two weeks later he will reprise it in Eugene, Oregon (another Paris-like city).

Then back to the city of lights for more composing and adventure.

Sleep?

It’s about two in the afternoon, or apres-midi, as we Parisians say. I haven’t yet gone to sleep. I took a walk a few hours ago (see the video tour podcast) and have been working the rest of the time.

I just had dinner (?), one of my favorite easy Paris meals. Split a fresh croissant, drip shrimp over it, drop on two poached eggs and drizzle with Hollandaise sauce, bought in a carton at the market. A splash of salt and cayenne pepper and voila! There’s a picture on my MEALS page.

Another week begins in Paris. The sun rose an hour ago and I’ve once again been up all night writing.

It didn’t take very long for me to jump back into my Parisian composers life. After almost a week in Idaho and Washington, I returned to paris last Friday in the early afternoon. I took an evening stroll; I ate a Sandwich Grec; I was asleep by 930 that night.

I awoke at 630 Saturday morning and stared writing and worked almost non-stop until 430 the next morning before succumbing to sleep. Needless to say, I missed mass.

Now it’s 830 on Monday morning, and as soon as I post this I am going to go out for some bacon and eggs before sleeping the day away.

Welcome to Moscow

My last day in Moscow. I gave my presentation yesterday and it went well. I met several nice people here, too.

Tomorrow morning at 430 I drive off in the dark of night to the Spokane airport to catch a 7:30 flight. At least I have a 5 hour layover in Los Angeles before boarding the short 11 hour flight back home to Paris.

Going to Moscow

It’s been a fun filled voyage to the inland Northwest. My flight from Paris to Los Angeles was only eleven hours. Then after a three hour stopover I flew to Spokane. Well, that was the plan. When we were about to land in Spokane the pilot informed us that there was too much fog, so we were being diverted to Seattle.

We landed in Seattle and were allowed off the plane as we waited to see what would happen. Over an hour passed and we re-boarded and took off again for Spokane. The fog was thick, but we landed, just a little after midnight (the original ETA was 930).

So a forty dollar cab ride later (the rental car desks were closed) I was deposited in my cozy Holiday Inn.

The next day I caught a ride back to the airport and picked up my car and explored Spokane a bit.

Today I awoke early, checked out, and made the hour and a half drive through beautiful snow covered terrain to the hamlet of Moscow, Idaho.

Tomorrow the conference begins and I give my presentation tomorrow afternoon.
