Audition Requirements:
Undergraduate Music Education and Performance Majors - A prepared solo of Grade IV or higher as listed in the Maryland Band Directors’ Association Handbook or two contrasting etudes of equivalent difficulty (one technical and one lyrical). Performance Major candidates may also choose to play standard orchestral excerpts. Accompaniments for solos are optional and must be provided by the candidate when used. Sight reading and scales may also be asked.
Graduate Music Education Applicants - Two movements or selections of contrasting style from the standard classical solo trombone repertoire. Accompaniments for solos are optional and must be provided by the candidate when used. Sight reading and scales may also be asked.
Graduate Music Performance Applicants - Two movements or selections of contrasting style from the standard classical solo trombone repertoire including one concerto as well as three standard orchestral excerpts. Accompaniments for solos are optional and must be provided by the candidate when used. Sight reading and scales may also by asked.
