“Leaving it all Behind”

straining, walking, (surviving?)
the weight of the load never ending
through the wilderness of life’s epic battles
and you keep walking
mind seeking peace
heart weary
forest of doubt
soil of greed
don’t you see?
this life
your life is over before you are freed
over indeed
and you look for direction
know that time deserves introspection
but dusk is arriving and you aren’t even halfway home
alone
dragging every ounce of muck
stuck with the knowledge that there’s more
so you pause reaching in
pulling out the dross of rebellion, sensuality
your carnal duality
because it is a part of you
but this you knew
it holds onto you and you seek it’s demise
but you keep walking, wearily…
step by bitter step.
and the more you try,
the more the world passes you by
why? Why am I chained to the cycle of pain?
you say as day leads on to day
with nothing to gain
and it’s driving you insane
The more you reach in, the more filthy rags you find
a slave driven mind
and there is only one hope
only one way to cope
the enemy lied. like a deer pause,
sensing the furious calamity
you see now. You know its true
you must fall and bury the man inside.
