A service held to celebrate the gifts of the TUC Choir. Many thanks go to the members of the choir whose hard work and talents are a blessing to Tokyo Union Church. Please listen and enjoy their performance at this, the 11am worship service on 1 June 2008.

Requiem in d minor, Opus 48 by Gabriel Faure (1845-1924). Personal grief may have influenced the composition; it was started after the death of his father and, and before it was completed, his mother died as well. The Requiem can thus be be seen as an expression of Faure's personal tragedy.

The seniors of Tokyo Union Church have made an important contribution to the Youth Ministry and on this special Sunday, Julia Sohn who embarks on a new journey in her life and continued studies in New York gives her testimony. On this day, May 25th, 2008, all the Youth of TUC got their chance to hold a special service to celebrate music and their faith and their talents.

May 11, 2008 was Pentecostal Sunday all around the world. In the Christian calendar, it commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit on the apostles and the followers of Jesus as described in the Book of Acts, Chapter 2. The sacred possession by the Holy Spirit and the advent of supernatural gifts; speaking of other tongues and prophesying are notable. At TUC, on Pentecostal Sunday, the congregation was asked to wear their national costumes and scripture readings were read in many tongues (languages).

Here, Pastor Barry talks about how a Japanese shipwrecked crew were imprisoned for claiming that a cow fell out of the sky and smashed their ship. That is almost as strange as a group of people from Galilee speaking many different foreign languages which they had no previious experience of.......

This sermon takes place on Palm Sunday and Pastor Barry dwells on why, as Jesus rides into Jerusalem on a donkey, he is weeping. The things that make for peace are important to Jesus and he considers missed opportunities for the people he is surrounded by.
