Some of you know this story. . .shortly before my mother passed away, my dad’s law partner commissioned a portrait of my dad to be painted, to hang in the law office. When it was delivered, the picture was not on canvas, as requested. So John kindly presented the portrait to my mother (the artist eventually completed the painting on canvas and it hangs in the offices of Thompson, Becker and Bothwell).
We’ve had the portrait down here with us since we moved. As you might imagine, it’s a pretty emotional situation for me. I finally gathered the nerve to have it framed, and we picked it up tonight.
Here it is hanging in our dining room.
It is an incredible likeness, capturing Daddy’s twinkling eyes and encouraging smile. I love having it up, and I look forward to everyone seeing it when they visit.
