Discus
Discus
(c) Artemis Regelio
Discus are unusual, "disc-shaped" fish. Common througout the Amazon basin, they are well known for their beauty. They are astounding fish with amazing colors. The discus is also a difficult fish to keep. It needs very pristine black-water, and if not kept in these conditions, it will die. It also requires a large concentration of plants in it's aquarium. Not only does it need such clean and chemical free water, it's water must be kept at a steady 80-84 degrees farenheight. You must also have very soft, acidic water. A ph of 6.5-7.4 is also necessary.
