Part 2
Veronika Part became acquainted with ballet performances at the Mariinsky Theater quite early, yet as a child she chose for artistic gymnastics, becoming a prize-winner at the age of four. However, at the initiative of her parents Part was enrolled in a local ballet school after which she was able to join the Vaganova Ballet Academy at the age of ten. She graduated in June 1996 (class of Inna Zubkovskaya) and joined the Mariinsky Ballet as a member of the corps de ballet. In January 1997 she danced her first major soloist role as Myrtha in Giselle, followed by Odette-Odile in Swan Lake in May. For the latter role Part was coached by Gabriella Komleva. She became a soloist in 1998.

In her second season with the Mariinsky Veronika Part enlarged her repertoire with leading roles in Balanchine's Serenade and Apollo, and debuted as the Lilac Fairy in The Sleeping Beauty in the old version of Konstantin Sergeyev.

The following season, at the premiere of the new-old Sleeping Beauty staged by Sergei Vikharev in April 1999, Part was chosen to dance the Lilac Fairy (now a role partly performed on heeled shoes), which would become one of her most successful interpretations. Under the guidance of Inna Zubkovskaya she also learned the role of Raymonda, earning her favorable comparisons with her famous teacher.

Among her most recent creations at the Mariinsky were Emeralds, Nikiya in La Bayadere and Medora in Le Corsaire. Veronika Part toured worldwide with the company, especially receiving accolades for her performances in Balanchine's ballets during the most recent tours. At the Mariinsky she worked mainly with Inna Zubkovskaya and Elena Evteyeva.
Veronika Part joined American Ballet Theater as a soloist in August 2002.
She was awarded the special prize "Our Hope" from the St. Petersburg brewery "Baltika" in 1999.
