Out With The Old, In With The New.
Aside from issues with connectivity, the feed, etc., I’d also be interested in hearing any and all comments regarding the new site.
The color schemes are virtually identical, and the column width of the articles is the same (it looks thinner only because there’s no sidebar). I did switch fonts, however. I’m now using Helvetica. Yes, I know, it’s boring and ubiquitous, but it’s also very readable. I have a million to choose from, but what’s the point when most browsers will substitute Arial or Verdana or Tahoma anyway?
One thing I noticed is that the stars used as bullet points on the Early Archives page showed correctly on Safari and Firefox on the Mac and on the PC, the triangle bullets I had on the About page did not. Safari on the Mac was fine, but Firefox there showed big question marks. Ruling out that this was actually Firefox’s way of questioning my listening and reading choices, I decided to just go with normal bullets for that page.
If you see any other discrepancies I’d like to hear it. I’ve seen some spacing issues, but it seems all three browsers (yes, I tested with IE on the PC as well) have their own ides about that. Unless something was bumping into or writing over something else, I didn’t mess with it any further.
In short, feedback on the new site is welcome.
