Total Football......nearly

Sometimes it all comes together and as a manager and you just have to admire your work, namely the fact that you’ve left yourself out of the starting line up and the team plays out of it’s skin.

5 up at half time and the game was over, we cut Lloyds open time and again with undoubtedly our slickest 45 minutes of football all season and it was truly a joy to watch. Billy opened the scoring following a neat one two between Nik and Matt whose cross was nodded hope from close range. The second was a horribly unlucky oggy as the centre back screwed Matts cross into his own net and 20  minutes in we were 3 up as Billy smashed a 30 yard free kick in off the bar. Another neat move allowed Nik a yard of room to fire home the fourth and Matt completed the scoring with a mazy run ending with a nice interchange with Jay before he waltzed through to score, remarkable stuff.

At the back we were largely untroubled and Lloyds faint promotion hopes ended in drizzle and goals galore. Of course it couldn’t continue and with a strong bench they more than matched us after the break, hitting the post and having a decent effort ruled out whilst we looked still dangerous on the break but there was no addition. Still the faintest chance of promotion but with Wilsonians, resurgent Parks and Merton to play it’ll take some doing.

MOM - whilst Nik looked to be the missing link, Matt Saunders was outstanding.
