Rubbish defending..there, i said it, and if i ended the report there it would pretty much sum things up. 3 times we switched off, 3 times they scored. No matter that we had lots of the ball and created more than enough chances to win, the fact that we defended like a cubs team was the difference.
The first two goals were very similar as crosses into the box found an eagle in miles of space with only john to beat as we failed to track back with the same guy though on both occasions we should have cleared before the cross came in. In fact every time they got the ball they seemed to have acres of space and were also more organised defensively. That said we played some nice stuff and their keeper made two good saves and one outstanding one from nick in the first half whilst one mad scramble somehow didn’t go in.
We (well I) decided to change the defence to a flat back four as at sweeper i was constantly having to mark anyway as we didn’t pick up midfielders (and I was also playing like dotty wainwright from the village launderette). It was hoped this way we could play higher up the pitch and indeed we did score as nick beat the advancing keeper from distance, however we blew it immediately as a goalkick was missed by chris and with no sweeper their forward pounced to beat john. From then on it was defence against attack as we tried everything to get back at them, Marlon hitting the bar with our best effort but you just knew it wouldn’t be our day as they rifled everything toward chiswick in an attempt to protect the lead and in the end they were were deserved winners. Nuff said.....
MOM - dozie did nowt wrong and hussain was solid on debut but nick looked back to his old self and deserved more than the one goal.
