Tony Peri : Photographer + B&W specialist Printer
working in Sydney, AUSTRALIA

Tony Peri was born in Sydney, Australia in 1969 and works with traditional film cameras from 35mm up to 4’x5’ format film and beyond. Most recently he has acquired a Lancaster half-plate field camera from 1895! Tony started off making his own pinhole cameras, sold enough to buy a rangefinder camera and then discovered a love for historic printing techniques and the fine art B&W print.

Tony has photographed stage and theatre work, music album covers, fine art, documentary projects, and worked on conservation and historical photographic assignments. He teaches photography and regularly leads workshops on subjects from pinhole photography, bird photography, portraiture and traditional darkroom printing.

Tony is currently working on the Bromoil process, a hand-made pigment inking process which was 100 years old in 2007. The process can take 3 days to make a print, but the image is unique and more archival than a silver gelatin print.

Tony is vice president and darkroom co-ordinator of Primrose Park Photographers, an informal collective of photographers who regularly meet in an old sewerage treatment plant in Sydney. Unlike most camera clubs Primrose Park is a non-competitive environment and welcomes anyone with a passion for photography. Link here for Primrose Park Photographers.

Tony is also a Blues radio broadcaster on 2MBS-FM and musical instrument repairer for Hohner Harmonicas. Go to the harmonica link for the other half of this website.
