Waterfall Canyon

Alex and I went to Utah to check out a school for him. We had a great time and even climbed a mountain with the kids and staff from the school! Needless to say, we liked the school. Here are the pictures.

 Mt. Rainier Summit Day!
OK, so the summit day spanned two calendar days. But we were up for 24 hours straight (our guide Josh forced us to stay up late just to complete the 24 hours) so I call it a summit day. It was a special day, and most of the hard work was done during the night with no time for pictures.
The Drive and hike up to camp Muir
I set off a couple days early for my climb up Mt. Rainier. I wanted plenty of time at high elevations so altitude would not be a factor in my ability to get to the top. I came all this way to get to the top and I left nothing to chance. So the day after I arrived, I climbed up to Muir Camp, named after an explorer named John Camp, my guide told me. I was lucky enough to follow a summit team from RMI up the Muir Snowfield (named after John Snowfield, I was told). :) Here are my images with some comments along the way.

Mt. Rainier Training Day
This is the day we learned how to self-arrest, team arrest, climb with crampons and ice axes, and had a great time.

Mt. Rainier Day 2
the hike to camp muir with my bawt friends
This time it was with a pack! Yeah, I was running circles around the summit climbs a couple days before. But today I went sloooow. No wasted energy when you are getting up at midnight to climb to the summit.

My Favorite Images
These are my best images. This is a photo album where I will post my best photography

Mt. Dana
I went on a training climb with 5 other Rainier climbers. What a great mountain and a great group of people! We had a great time and climbed a 13,000 ft. mountain. The next time we meet will be at Mt. Rainier.
Mt. Lassen
My Son Alex, my friend and hiking buddy Rick, and I climbed Mt. Lassen. It was a great day.

Bumpass Hell!
After Mt. Lassen, we hiked to Bumpass Hell. Where sulfuric steam and boiling mud meets snow-melt to make an amazing place.

Half Dome
I drove up to Yosemite, climbed to the top of Half Dome, and then drove back home all in one day. Wow, what a hike.

We had a great day hiking in the Jack London State Park. We went to the top, saw great sites, saw frogs and butterflies, and great flowers.

BAWT RAFTing 2005
Alex and I went rafting with BAWT last Summer. Here are the photos that I took.

WLT Images!
This is five days worth of images taken on the trip from Cherry Lake to Kibbie Lake and back again on a different route. You will see storms, rainbows, lakes, streams, ferns, burnt out forests, granite domes, and people having a time to remember.

Arkansas
Cheryl and I went to Arkansas to visit my Grandpa and Uncle. We also visited some of her ancestor’s grave sites. The log cabin was built by her Great Great Great Grandfather.

Retaliation
These are photos of a movie I helped make at Industrial Light and Magic. I did video capture, still photography, and production assistance. This is the first movie with my name at the end in the credits. It’s going to film festivals, so don’t expect it to show up in the theater.

Mt. Dana pt. 1
I went on a training climb with 5 other Rainier climbers. What a great mountain and a great group of people! We had a great time and climbed a 13,000 ft. mountain. The next time we meet will be at Mt. Rainier.

Mt. Dana pt. 2

Here are the images of some time spent on the Mt. Dana summit and the fun decent. Also included are the great fields of flowers and the drive east to the Mobile gas station for great food.
Mt. Amelia Earhart
Rick and I set off to climb Mt. Amelia Earhart. We hiked to the Vogelsang High Sierra Camp, then camped near Ireland Lake. The next day we set off for Earhart but only made it to Potter’s Point.
MT. TAllac Climb
Wow, what a hike! Mt. Tallac is awsome! All my BAWT friends were awesome also. We had a great hike, climb, and even slide up and down Mt. Tallac with wonderful views of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding mountains. At 9730 ft high, it is at this time the highest mountain I have climbed. But there are bigger mountains coming.

yosemite Falls hike
Here are some of the images from my Yosemite Falls hike. it was a great day and I have a bunch of cool panoramas to put together. Those will be posted as soon as I make them.

Mt. Diablo HIke
Rick and I hiked up Mt. Diablo. Whew, what a hike. I think if I can do about two of these in one day, I will be ready for Mt. Rainier. Wow, that’s an overwhelming thought
