The Portrait Project is the working title for a show that I hope will find completion during the next 12 to 18 months. The concept for the show is somewhere between a representation of the idea of interconnectedness and  that  “6 degrees of separation” thing.

Several months ago I began working on a collection of portraits of the people that comprise the "sphere" of my life....Friends, family, doctors, lawyers, artist friends and others in the arts community, people in organizations I’m involved in and the like. The whole kit and caboodle of those around me!

These are not necessarily  all people that I know (although most are) but they can be people who I have met and found interesting and work in areas of endeavor related to me or my work.

These are NOT commissioned portraits. The sitter will have no input into any aspect of the paintings’ production. This frees me to make a real painting. The sitter is welcome to purchase their portrait at the end if they like, but there is NO obligation to do so.

A WORD TO MY COLLECTORS:  There will be a grouping in the show of portraits done of collectors. If there are any of you out there reading this and would like to participate, please don’t hesitate to send me an email and let me know. I would like to have as many portraits for the show as possible.

Most of the portraits will be very simple head and shoulders shots (like the one on my Intro page of my website) done in oil on a  16" x 20" canvas format or thereabout.

This is a new project and presently, I have painted about 15 portraits and my excitement for the project increases with each one. I think it will be a FABULOUS show. I have so far completed about 17 of these portraits and hope that by the end of this I will have somewhere around 100 or so.

I also think it would be a killer opening when the show is finally mounted. I think everyone would want to bring all their friends to see their portrait in the show and it would bring a lot of different people together who had come under my hand as an artist.
