Respect

Had an interesting day, yesterday.  I know that we all have buttons that can be pushed and mine is respect.  I don’t want to be the king or emperor or anything like that.  I don’t want students bowing down to my greatness.  I would mostly like us to treat each other with respect and dignity and have me do the best that I can teaching and have them do the best that they can learning.  However, I
 
Long Days, Short Nights

I thought that the season of long days and short nights was supposed to be Summer.  I am learning that for teachers, it is the Winter.  
 
I had my last New Teacher Network meeting last night.  It was a very good meeting.  We had a couple of students come in and talk with us about what they like and don’t like about school and teachers.  They were some very self-aware kids and did a very good job

OK, didn’t get everything finished, but I am getting caught up a bit.  I worked on my research project for six more hours this weekend and got the presentation about ESL education finished.  When I finally get the entire paper finished I’ll post it on this site.  All I have left is to get a pamphlet that summarizes the information done and then write the discussion chapter of my project.  In the

OK, it was a hell week.  Here’s how the week went:
 
Monday evening was a long one as I had choir (I sing in Rocky Mountain Chorale and am currently the president of that group).  I got home after 10:00 pm and got to bed around midnight.
 
Tuesday I got up at the normal 4:45 am and got ready for school.  I was driving and left the house a little before 6:00 am so that we can get to school before

Today we handed out progress reports.  This is going to be a kind of ‘hell week’.  I worked until about midnight last night (Sunday night) getting quizzes graded and scores entered into Infinite Campus so that I’d be ready for doing progress reports today.  Then, when I got to school, I remembered (actually the computer reminded me) that I had a parent meeting set up for this morning at 7:15
