Had an interesting day, yesterday.  I know that we all have buttons that can be pushed and mine is respect.  I don’t want to be the king or emperor or anything like that.  I don’t want students bowing down to my greatness.  I would mostly like us to treat each other with respect and dignity and have me do the best that I can teaching and have them do the best that they can learning.  However, I had a class yesterday that was just completely disrespectful.  They can’t stop talking when others are talking, even other students in the class, trying to read out loud, could not be heard.  They were rude when answering questions.  They just were not acting the way that I would expect anyone’s child to act.  Honestly, if I ever found out that my child was being this rude in class, there would be hell to pay.  OK, it is not everyone in the class.  In this particular class it is about 5 to 8 kids.  

 

Ding.  That just turned on a light.  OK, I need to start calling home more for this rude behavior.  I have done this in the past, but only for over the top behavior.  The problem is that if there are 8 kids acting up a little bit, it is far more distracting than 1 kid acting up a medium amount.  I don’t tend to call home for the “little bits”.  I need to start doing that more often.
