I just wrapped-up the above tour poster for my friends SNMNMNM. (Seamus, Mark, Matt, and Matt)

They’re a band out of Chapel Hill, NC, and are touring the country to promote their new album....

The illustration, btw, is drawn on 14”x19” paper with a black prismacolor pencil and charcoal. I initially started to do the piece in ink, but was unhappy with the results. I wanted to capture the spontaneous feeling SNMNMNM gives while performing on stage. Rather than a posed, slick & produced illustration- A rougher approach seemed a more appropriate way to match the music. I had taken tons of shots of the guys playing gigs with my digital camera. Having those to get inspiration from, I attempted to mimic how I may have approached a drawing of them from life (at a show).
