Now that Marvel has released a cover image for solicitation, we can now give the readers here a good look at the cover to 1985 issue #1.
I decided to paint the 1985 covers, rather than approach it with the typical ink and photoshop mediums. This decision was based on my desire to give the book a more “realistic” feel. Mark Millar’s story really calls for that approach.
The 1985 covers will all have a “larger than life” feel, and throw a slight nod to the 1980’s movie posters.
For obvious reasons, we also wanted to tap into the feeling of 1980’s Marvel Comics. My layout design, along with the logo developed by John Workman, does this without being an obvious “homage” (i hope)......
Speaking of the logo, we’re still tweaking it. trying to find that right middle-ground between modern comics and classic 80’s. Progressive yet clearly readable. Anyway...
