Some images and notes

This has been a long couple of days.  The imaging lab has been set up and we have been working with a workflow specialist and the conservators of the scrolls to build a system that allows orderly capture of the images.  There are three basic stations that can input image data: full color, infrared and multi-spectral infrared.  We will be imaging today.

The picture above is an example of typical architecture in Jerusalem.  I am staying in an apartment in a section of the city that was established by the Germans in the late 19th century.

This is a view from balcony in the apartment .  It is not the King David Hotel, but it is a good place to be .

There is lots of night life on main street and I am a very short walk off of the main road .  The food is a mixed bag.  Not all resturants are Kosher, but many are.  I need to see if I can get a cheese burger at MacDonalds. That would be a Kosher no-no.  The apartment that I am staying in has a Kosher Dairy kitchen, so we are not allowed to bring meat into the kitchen or use the plates for eating meat.  Lots of paper plates.
