Clearly the only driver with the pace to challenge SpeedRacer, Buddy had his share of luck — good and bad — but in the end fell just short of seriously threatening the front-runner.
Another small field showed up to race the green rollercoaster that is Mosport. With only eight drivers on the grid and only four finishing it was spoils to the cars running at the end. SpeedRacer and Buddy were clearly fastest with the No.5 car claiming pole in 1:10.315 just ahead of Buddy’s 1:10.582. Despite early sustained pressure from the black Jag SpeedRacer’s Mazda claimed the chequered flag and grabbed a healthy series lead.

Fastest in practice, qualifying and the race. The field had no answer to the No.5 Mazda’s speed and precision. Hardly setting a wheel wrong in sixty laps of front-running domination the man from Washington left his challengers sweating on an error as their only hope of stealing a win.
The winner of a tussle with Majortom for the only podium position that looked in doubt from the outset, Yerblues added a third place to his impressive Lime Rock Park second place. Until the Minolta’s early exit the battle for third place looked like it may be closer than the race for the chequered flag.
