Barga


The picturesque and lively town of Barga is situated at the base of the Appennine Mountains, 410 meters above sea level, a forty minute drive from Lucca. 
Barga vecchia (the old town) is a charming network of narrow streets, archways and winding stairways, containing several cafes, restaurants, shops, and a theatre. Barga Giardino (the new town) offers many shops, restaurants, a cinema, public swimming pool, and a Saturday morning market. There is a Sunday antique market in Barga once a month.


Barga's crowning glory is the Duomo, from which one can enjoy stunning views over the  surrounding rooftops, terraced hills and distant mountains.
