Island Girl is a 2½-year-old Potcake whose owners brought her back from the Bahamas as a pup ... she is a strong, exuberant dog with a wildness in both her look and gate that occasionally frightens those she runs toward ... unless they’re squirrels, however, they have nothing to fear—she's a happy, sweet-natured soul

these shots were taken in Kay Gardner Beltline Park ... once a rail line, this 4.5-kilometer strip of parkland twists westward from Mount Pleasant Road to the Allen Expressway and, for Island Girl, is a cornucopia of exotic scents, squirrels to chase, and casual water... keeping her leashed, as the law requires, would be criminal
