Update on the Elk Release
Update on the Elk Release
The elk that had been captured and disease tested at Elk Island National Park, Alberta Canada, have been released into the wild in Canada. Due to the recent decision handed down by the USDA and the CFIA, 150 animals that had been captured were not allowed to be imported to Tennessee as originally planned. TWRA is hopeful that next year will bring an agreement between the two organizations that will allow Tennessee’s elk restoration effort to continue with future importations.
