The 4 Horsemen - Peak Oil, Climate Change, Financial Meltdown, Food Scarcity
New years day, 2008: We all ate the last of the Christmas Turkey, enjoyed the company of friends and family and turned our thoughts to the year ahead. Positive thoughts about new family members, work opportunities and interesting diversions. Since the Summer of 2007, I had been working on a few ideas for alternative power generation - having been shocked by the steep rise in heating oil costs. We have a tank that holds 1100 litres, but I usually just buy 500. The price this time, was significantly more than before. A brief look around the internet hinted that prices had started to grow since the spring of 2007 - and a new project was born. I must stress, I’m not your usual eco chic greeny - my sole driver here was not to be beholden to the oil companies. But as time moved on, and my research deepened, I was to understand that forces around us are building and that life as we know it now - cannot be maintained for much longer. Start to look around, investigate, the issues surrounding oil, and you will discover that oil has enabled human kind to multiply - far beyond the capability of the world to support it. We use oil in 95% of our daily lives, naturally for transport - but also the food we eat was delivered, manufactured, grown using tools or chemicals powered or derived from oil. The furniture we relax in has an oil energy cost to build, the drugs used to treat our common ailments etc etc, the list is endless. The world can support (historical data) approx 2 billion population without oil. in 2008, the worlds population is approaching 8 billion - and the reason it can, is our imaginative and technological exploitation of oil. People need shelter, food, basic amenities - and oil allows us to build the infrastructure to provide. The Question is - what happens when that oil is denied us.

This site will have various media that help the reader to understand the issues we face today. I also have some posts about my solar power project and some wind experiments.
