Thompson Le Blanc @ Vanderbilt

I am a 3rd year graduate student in the Physics & Astronomy department at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. I truly love and constantly miss my home, the Caribbean! As such, much of what I do when I’m not at my cubicle at work has to do with something that reminds me of home; I enjoy various forms of art such as music (my favourite being reggae, of course!), painting and drawing, sculptures, and calligraphy. I’m also constantly learning to appreciate many other art forms, such as theater, and my fast-becoming favourite, photography.

Other things that occupy my time depend on where I am; if I’m back home, 90% is spent on the beach. Otherwise, I love going to the movies, reading, and exercising my green thumb! To find out more, click here ...

My current research tries to answer the question as to why stars young tend to slow down as they mature from protostars (just before they “turn on”) to the point where they are steadily burning hydrogen in their cores. This study is currently being conducted in the Taurus-Auriga stellar nursery (paper coming soon!), and I’ve just recently added another region, IC348 in the constellation Persius, to the list. Next is the Orion Nebula, which should be quite an interesting region! For more on this, please see the research section of this site.

Welcome to my site @ Vanderbilt!

may you have warmth in your igloo, oil in you lamp, and peace in your heart! ❞
