Eva Zeisel said that in a lecture I attended a few years ago and it stuck with me. She’s a one hundred and one year old industrial designer from Hungary. She also said the reason she emigrated was because she wanted to see what was on the other side of the mountain. But that’s another story.
Over time I’ve expanded on her idea, and have come to believe that interactive things and experiences have the potential to connect us to one another. Deeply.
The thoughtful design of objects, environments, and interactions is how I aspire to connect each of us to where we stand, emotionally — in relation to ourselves and to each other.
I’m a designer of these emotional bridges between people, as well as an actual bridge. So, if you like, you can see what’s on the other side.
