A Day in the Life of...Me.

My Cancer:  I am a year out from my transplant and still doing well.  A recent PET/CT scan showed impressive bone remodeling in my sternum and no sign of disease.  SEE NEXT PAGE.

My Job:  My business is up 50% over last year and we have plenty of new toys including a hyperthermia unit to use in combination with our radiation treatments for improved local tumor control.  I am also medical director for our surgical center.  My BIG project this year is to create a breast cancer alliance on the south side of Denver.  I have not been happy with the expediency or treatment options offered to breast cancer patients and hope to correct this shortcoming along with 30 other physicians.  Wish women south of Denver good luck!

My Social life:  I became a godfather again this year to Charles Im and continue to enjoy spoiling my other godchildren, Jameson & Madison....  If you are the first to guess the origin of their names, I will send you a case of wine.  As a group we pretty much embody the gang on Seinfeld, but with children.  I think I am Jerry?  I will be traveling to Vegas in July and hope to take a big trip in the fall to Hawaii or Italy.  Suggestions are welcome.  I continue to perfect my yoga practice and enjoy all that Colorado has to offer the outdoor enthusiast... see photos above.

My Investments:  Amazingly, I am still ahead in this endeavor.  So far it has been relatively easy compared to, let us say...understanding people, LOL.  If I were to pass along any words of wisdom, I would encourage a high yield checking account like ING, which earns 4%; a universal variable life insurance policy tied to the S&P 500 which will earn between 2% and 15% a year with interest free growth (like a Roth IRA) that you can withdraw at any age without penalty, and pays a death benefit to your beneficiary; invest in mutual funds and stocks that involve products you know well and like (ie Apple, Chipotle, Vanguard Global, etc).

My most interesting investment is doing better than I ever anticipated:  The GLADIATOR helmet, see above.  It is still one of my few “High Risk” investments but is being evaluated this summer by the NFL against 3 other helmets:  The Revolution from Riddell, The DNA from Schutt and the Xenon from a development group at Harvard.  My money is on the Gladiator....
