Thanks for checking out our web site!  In 2008 at least three teams of people will head to Goma in the Democratic Republic of Congo from the First Presbyterian Church of Berkeley.  We’re partnering with Global Strategies for HIV Prevention and their work with HEAL Africa.

In April, Timo Acosta and Glenn Bean, two young adults in our church, traveled to Malawi and the DR Congo to explore the possibility of manufacturing a nutritional supplement that will benefit malnourished children in eastern Congo.

In May, civil rights attorney Kerry Gough spent a week in Goma learning more about how we can help address issues of injustice and gender violence in eastern Congo.

In August a team of 13 will deepen our partnership with Global Strategies for HIV Prevention and the remarkable people at HEAL Africa as we return for our second summer trip to the DR Congo.

On these pages we’ll tell you more about Goma, the Congolese people and the work of HEAL Africa.  We hope our blog entries, videos and photo galleries will help you have a better understanding of what God is doing in eastern Congo and Africa’s Great Lakes Region.  We also hope you will see this as an invitation to join us as we pray for the people of Goma.  If you would like to become a financial partner with us we’ll show you how on this web site.  Just click the links above!

Blessings!
