Woodburning Mail Holder
Ever wonder what to do with those bills you need to attend to,
but just don’t have the time right now? Or a catalog you think you might order from, but need a little time to be sure? Well, this little mailholder serves that purpose in my kitchen. (I’ve spared you having to see the pile o’ junk that gets tucked into it regularly.)
Originally, this was an untreated pine piece I bought at Michaels. Because I knew it was going in my kitchen, I chose to embellish it with a design I had on my dinner plates.
First, I drew the pattern I wanted on each of the sides. Then, using a woodburning pen, I burnt the image into the wood. Next, I painted the background using FolkArt craft paints in Wicker White, careful to leave the burnt edges for the outline. Then I painted in the violets and leaves using a mix of FolkArt shades.
Lastly, I gave it a couple of coats of Deft clear topcoat.
