Potty About Violets
In this second work by Edith Busch, we once again must question the anthropomorphic nature of vegetative matter. But unlike the curious, possibly flirting faces of the former pansies, there is a certain ominous air about these violets. Have they seen “Day of the Triffids” or “Little Shop of Horrors” perhaps one too many times from their sunny windowsill?
Are they searching for the sun, or straining to escape their pot?
The viewer feels a certain chill.
